Everything you need to know about the 2022 Totally Coyote! 80’s Retrofest Event

What is the Totally Coyote! Retrofest event?

This event is our MAJOR FUNDRAISER of the school year, and is our way of kicking off the year with a fun gathering. Fundraising takes place in the weeks leading up to the event (September 19th-30th) and the event is our means of celebrating all the efforts by coming together as a community! Fundraising will be done online (more information below).

Your PTSA donations support the many educational programs, events and grants we offer throughout our school. This year our special focus is to fund equipment and programs that support students through PLAY at Cascade Ridge. Your donations will help support indoor recess items, such as books, educational toys, manipulative and sensory items as well as outdoor play equipment, including a life sized chess board & a brand new Gaga Ball Pit! Gaga Ball is a fast-moving and high-energy game that keeps all children active and engaged. We are excited to bring this new game to the Cascade Ridge playground!

When and where is the event?

The event is on Friday, September 30th from 5-7pm on Cascade Ridge school grounds.

This is a family event, so please plan to attend with your child or send them with a responsible adult. Friends and family are welcome to join! Your child should go home from school as usual on the 30th, and then return with family or chaperones at 5pm.

What activities will be available for students and families to participate in and enjoy?

  • Glow Dance: A DJ’ed low-light dance with blacklights and neon, taking place in the cafe.
  • Retro video game themed obstacle course: A multi-level obstacle course will be set up in the sand field. Students will be able to “level up!” & earn totally 80’s jelly bracelets!

  • Musical Cakes: People can purchase a chance to win a cake in our musical cake game.

  • Concessions: Food Trucks, Apparel Booth and more!
  • Sensory Friendly Zone: Quiet S.T.E.A.M. activities, art, bubbles, books, friendship bracelets

  • Other activities: Photo Booth, Face Painting, Carnival Games & more!

What are some quieter options at this event?

We will have a sensory friendly zone where your child can participate in some quieter individual activities like: art, friendship bracelets, reading books and other S.T.E.A.M. related fun!

What is the suggested donation for Cascade Ridge Families?

We are aiming to raise $30,000 this year to fund the many programs PTSA supports.

It costs an average of $100 per student annually to fund the programs, events, and grants that the PTSA supports. Your donation will help us to meet our goal and continue to support education, advocacy, fun, and community building at Cascade Ridge.

How do I donate to Retrofest/PTSA?

You may donate via e-check or credit card on our CheddarUp site: Totally Coyote Retrofest Donation Site

You may also donate via cash or check by first submitting the donation form on CheddarUp.  After the form is submitted, cash and checks (made payable to Cascade Ridge PTSA) can be submitted to the black PTSA collection box in the school lobby.  Please be sure to place all your donations in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and teacher name.

When is my donation due?

Our donation site is open now. Donations will continue to be accepted through the first week of October. If we meet our school wide goal, we will have a special assembly on October 7th!

What will my child receive as an incentive for my donation?

  • School – We will have a school-wide fundraising goal of $30,000 for our programs, events and grants.  If we meet the school goal, we will be hosting a special SLIME assembly on October 7th! Our principal Ms. Sehlin (along with two special faculty guests) will get SLIMED!!
  • Classroom – The top class in grades K-2 and the top class in grades 3-5 (by %) will receive an added reward. Each student will have the opportunity to spin a prize wheel and receive a prize!

  • Individual –All students, regardless of donation or donation size, will receive a Totally Coyote! Retrofest Key Chain as well as a free Retrofest t-shirt!

Can other people donate to support the PTSA’s educational program?

Absolutely!  Grandmas, grandpas, friends, local businesses - anyone can support our children’s education!  The Community Donation page is the place to go to donate.

My company has a donation fund-matching program.  How do I take advantage of this?

Did you know that many companies will match their employee's charitable contributions?

You can maximize the impact of your donation by registering your donation with your employer. A matching gift program is a type of corporate giving program that essentially matches some or all of an employee's initial donation to a nonprofit organization. If your employer is one of the generous companies that offers this program, please remember to notify your employer of the donation.

Does my child have to collect donations to participate in the Retrofest event?

No, it is free for any student & their families to participate!

 Spirt Week at Cascade Ridge

The week of the Totally Coyote! event (September 26th-30th) will be a spirit week at Cascade Ridge. We will be celebrating with fun spirit days each day! Participation is optional.

Will there be food at the event?

Yes, we are excited to have a number of great food vendors at our event:

Pre-orders may be an option for some of the vendors. We will continue to update this page with more information as it becomes available

Do we need to bring money to participate in the Retrofest activities?

Most activities are free to all. The events with associated costs are:

  • Musical Cakes ($2 per round, per person – CASH ONLY).
  • Food Truck Vendors - various prices
  • PTSA Store- Retrofest t-shirts will be available to purchase in children & adult sizes for your family members ($10/each) and we will also have Brown Bear Car Wash tickets on hand ($10/each).

Musical Cake Donations Needed

Cascade Ridge will be hosting Musical Cakes at this year’s fall fundraiser.
Musical Cakes is simple:  Participants buy a chance for $2 and as music plays, participants walk around a large circle of numbers.  When the music stops, a number is randomly drawn from a container and the person standing on the number drawn wins the dessert of their choice.  It’s a sweet deal!

We need your donated baked goods to help make it a success. Please consider making a donation of a full cake, a dozen cupcakes, cookies, donuts, or cake pops to be used at this fun family event. Store bought only, please, and nothing that requires refrigeration.

Donate a Cake Here
All donations will be collected the morning of Friday, September 30th and should be delivered in front of the school in a disposable container, plate or pan. We have lots of students with food allergies, so a clear ingredients label is important. Thank you!

What should I wear to Retrofest?

Wear clothes for comfort (Retrofest is RAIN or SHINE), but feel free to dress in totally radical 80’s wear!!

I would love to help! Can I?

Absolutely! We need volunteers in a number of different capacities to help run the event.

If you have any questions about the fundraiser, please contact fundraising@cascaderidgeptsa.org.
