Thank you for your interest in the programs of Cascade Ridge PTSA. The spelling bee will no longer be hosted by the PTSA. This decision was not made lightly, as we understand that this is a beloved program for a select number of families. In consultation with our school administration team, as well as PTSA boards from many of our neighboring elementary schools, the decision was made to discontinue participation in the spelling bee. 

In previous years, the logistics of running the bee has been arduous, and some caregivers placed high demands on those volunteers which had lead to mistreatment of their contribution. Some students experienced great pressure from their families to succeed, leading to emotional distress. In keeping with our campus's initiative to support our students developing a healthy growth mindset, The PTSA strives to support programs that make all children feel welcome and supported, regardless of their academic abilities. We appreciate your interest in this program, and we hope you will join us in supporting the many other programs available to our community.
