Everything you need to know about the 2018 Cascade Ridge Color Run

 FAQ Registration and Participation

  1. When and where is the Coyote Color Run?
    • The event is on Thursday, September 27th 4:30PM -6:30PM on Cascade Ridge school grounds.
    • This is a family event so please plan to attend with your child or send them with a responsible adult. Your child should go home as usual from school on the 27th then return with a chaperone at 4:30.
  1. Does my child have to collect donations to participate in the Color Run?
    • It is free to participate and all kids will be given a Color Run t-shirt from their teacher on Wednesday, September 26th to wear to school and the event on the 27th.  However, you must register your child on the Color Run website so that we can plan accordingly for the number of attendees and you have given us permission to spray your child if they participate.
  1. How do we donate to the Color Run/PTSA?
    • Each student should set up a Join Me fundraising page on our website listed above and you can send direct emails to your family and friends.
    • You may also choose to collect checks or cash donations as well and return them to the PTSA collection box in the school lobby. Please be sure to place all your donations in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and teacher name. REMEMBER YOU STILL HAVE TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD ONLINE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE.
    • Your donations can be made via Credit Card or Check (made payable to Cascade Ridge PTSA)
  1. Why do we do the Color Run?
    • The Color Run is our only MAJOR FUNDRAISER of the school year and is our way of kicking off the year with a fun community gathering.  Your donations support the PTSA and the many programs and grants we offer throughout our school.  This year our special focus is to Fund educational enrichment materials to be used by all students.  If our goal is met we will be able to purchase technology licenses for IXL, BrainPop and RazKids, provide supplemental materials for our new science and social studies curriculum and update our Book Room with books for reading groups in all grades.
    • Please see the Cascade Ridge PTSA Facebook page and/or the information letter sent home to find out more about where your money goes and how it all goes back to our children and their school.

FAQ Color Run Logistics

  1. What kind of color solution will be used?
    • We are using Sargent Art Watercolor Magic Paint. This paint is AP certified non-toxic and has been approved by the Issaquah School district for Color Run use.  This is the second Color Run held at CRE, last year the event was a huge success and all the children enjoyed the experience.
    • The paint solution is diluted with water and is washable so it will come out of all clothes including the Color Run t-shirt. If your child wants a more permanent colored shirt you may want to consider tie-dying it after the event.  Materials to tie-dye can be purchased online or at a local craft store.
    • Your child’s shirt will get wet. You may want to bring a change of clothes if you think your child will be uncomfortable after the run.
  1. How will the color be sprayed on the runners?
    • Volunteers will be spread out in 5 different stations around the track and will spray the runners with a gentle stream of color water using pump garden sprayers. These sprayers have only been used for once, and that was at last year’s event.  The spray will be targeted onto the t-shirts of the runners.
  1. Can my child participate if they don’t want any color on them?
    • They can choose to run on the outer loop of the track away from the sprayers which will be placed around the inside loop.
  1. How long are the kids supposed to run?
    • We are separating the run into two heats. The K-2 grade levels will meet in the Starting Corral at 4:35 and can run/walk for 20 minutes to collect lap bracelets.  They do not have to run/walk the entire 20 minutes but should be encouraged to do so.  The 3-5 grade levels will meet in the Starting Corral at 5:10 and will run/walk for 20 minutes to collect lap bracelets.
    • After the children finish their event they can head to the prize table to collect a participation prize.
    • One lap around the track equals 1/6th of a mile.
