Attention Cascade Ridge students: We are excited to announce the 2024-2025 Yearbook Cover Challenge! This year, our theme is all about puzzles, play, and games. We want you to create a cover that shows the fun and teamwork our coyotes share! Only one design will be chosen for the official cover, but don’t worry—every submission will be included in the final yearbook to celebrate the amazing talent in our school!

Check out the rules and submission guidelines below to help you get started on your awesome design!

What Your Art Must Include:

  • School name: Cascade Ridge Elementary
  • School year: 2024-2025
  • A design based on the theme, COYOTE QUEST: WE PLAY, WE LEARN, WE WIN! Think board games, puzzles, game pieces, etc.

How to Make Your Cover:

  • Use 8.5” x 11” white paper (the size of regular printer paper).
  • Make your artwork vertical (tall, not wide!).
  • Your artwork must be flat for scanning—no bumpy materials!
  • Create your own original artwork. No tracing or copying, and no digital images.
  • Your name, teacher’s name, and your grown-up’s email written lightly in pencil on the back of your entry.
  • Keep your artwork school friendly! That means no violence, scary stuff, or anything too grown-up. We want our yearbook to be happy and safe for all!

Tips for Making Your Cover Great:

  • Start now! Don’t wait until the last minute.
  • Make sure your design is about the theme of board games or puzzles. Be creative!
  • Sketch your design on scratch paper first.
  • Make text and pictures big and easy to read.
  • Use bold colors and fill the space—no highlighters!
  • Keep important details away from the edges so they don’t get cut off.
  • Protect your artwork in a folder when you turn it in.

How It Will Be Judged:

Every entry that follows the rules will be in the yearbook, but only one will be on the cover. Students from the Skyline High School ASB student leadership club select a final cover design by giving your artwork scores on:

  • Creativity – Is the design original?
  • Use of Theme – Does it match the “Coyote Quest: We play, we learn, we win!” theme?
  • Clarity – Are the school name and year easy to read?
  • Visual Impact – Do the colors and design make a good impression as a cover?
  • Effort – Does it look like a lot of time and hard work was involved?

How to Submit Your Cover:

Turn in your artwork to the Cascade Ridge front office by Friday, November 15th. The entries will be picked up at the end of the school day. Late entries won’t be accepted—no exceptions!

The selected design will be announced on December 6th.

We can’t wait to see your designs! Good luck and have fun!
