Overview for 2016-2017

Fifth grade is a special year at Cascade Ridge! Our students have the opportunity to participate in activities exclusive to the fifth grade, culminating in a promotion ceremony (traditionally know as “castoff”).

A 5th grade parent committee has been formed to support the school administrative staff and the 5th grade teachers in planning a memorable conclusion to their final days at Cascade Ridge. The committee coordinates a class service project, the cast-off ceremony and party and an end of year gift for teachers and staff that were instrumental in our children’s time at Cascade Ridge.

In the meantime if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to working with you to make this an exciting and memorable time for our 5th graders!

 Service Project Update

Our Fifth Grade Service Project was a success! The student’s fundraising allowed us to purchase supplies to create     120 beautiful no-sew fleece blankets. Each blanket had a personal note attached and they were donated along with a check for $200 to Eastside Baby Corner!  The staff at EBC was very grateful and said over and over again how excited they were and how amazing it was to receive so much!  Many children will benefit from the gift of a warm and cozy blanket!

Fifth Graders - your gift will bring comfort to a child and goodness into the world!  Way to go!

We had an amazing crew of helpers for this project!  First, the Service Project committee – Jen Belding, Kim McNesby, Peggy Llort Sicilia and Mi Kim!  Second, thank you to the parents who made a special effort to come help us out on the actual blanket making day; Kim McNesby, Peggy Llort Sicilia, Mi Kim, Angela Fisher, Tara Farhad, Lara Buis, Khristie Tobler, Tiffany Parker, Stefanie Magnuson, Amy Ketcham, Marloes MacRae, Elana Clayton, Sandy Torres, Dulcy Hixson, Li Chen, Carol Folkman, Nigar Suleman and Michelle Bowling.  It was definitely a group effort!

And to all the 5th grade teachers for supporting us throughout the project!  Thank you!
