The PTSA board would like to "spotlight" Olga Lepekhina.
As a volunteer coach, Olga has driven the 5th grade math club to a 2nd place victory in the Math Is Cool Competition. This victory was a testament to Olga's coaching goal, which is to raise the math level of every student. She successfully engages all students by creating a safe environment, where children feel motivated to work hard, gain math skills and take risks to speak out in class. She has brought many shy kids out of their shells and it is a joy to see them gain confidence, get out of their comfort zone and begin raising their hands.
Olga is special because she goes far above and beyond to make sure each child in math club is raising their math level. She is an excellent teacher and is constantly gauging whether the children are grasping the concepts. If she sees quizzical looks, she pauses, identifies the gaps and then fills the gaps to ensure the kids truly understand. Olga cares for each and every student in math club and the students respond by giving her their best. She is truly an inspiration to everyone in the math club.
