Monday: School wide announcement kicking off our Read Across America celebration will begin by sharing the Reader’s Oath. Teachers will read aloud a Dr. Seuss book and every student will receive a Read Across America pencil grip. Every Cascade Ridge Student will also receive a Dr. Seuss bookmark when they come to library.

Hat Decorating contest: In honor of the Cat in the Hat, students are encouraged to get creative and decorate a hat. Hats will be put on display in the library. Participating students in grades K-2 and 3-5 will be entered into a raffle for a Barnes and Noble gift card. Winners will be announced on Thursday. You can drop of your hats on Monday morning. Please include your name and grade level.

Tuesday: Each class will be given picture books related to one of the fifty states. After reading the books, the class will place the “book cover” on a United States map displayed outside the library. By the end of the day Cascade Ridge will have Read Across America!!

Wednesday: Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character. Participating students will be entered into a raffle for a Barnes and Noble gift card. Winners will be announced on Thursday.

Thursday: In honor of the book One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish students will estimate the number Swedish FISH placed in jars. The K-1, 2-3 and 3-5 student coming closest will win a Barnes and Noble gift card. Winners will be announced on Thursday.

Friday: Cascade Ridge will Drop Everything and Read! The whole school will be spilling out into the halls sometime on Friday to cuddle up with a good book.
