The Stanford 10 will be the first standardized assessment for all of our students in 2011. The Stanford 10 is a norm referenced assessment that was adopted by the district level assessment committee five years ago. A battery of multiple choice tests in reading and math will be given to all students in the Issaquah School District (grades K-9).

The testing window for the Stanford 10 Achievement Tests is Monday, January 31 through Friday, February 4. Make up tests for absent students will be administered the following week, Monday, February 7 through Friday, February 11.

Helpful Tips

As parents, there are a few things you can do to help your child be as successful on these assessments as possible.

  • First, avoid absences on the testing days…students will perform better in their regular classroom setting rather than in isolation during a make-up test.
  • Second, be on time to school… Testing begins at the beginning of the day and students are not allowed in the classroom once testing has begun.
  • Third, get your student(s) to bed early…a good night’s sleep will help students to perform at their peak level.
  • Last, but certainly not least, eat a nutritious breakfast. A healthy morning meal will allow students the brain power to perform at their best.
