The ISD PTSA welcomes Harborview’s Burn Education Outreach team to
provide parents with information about scald burns. The speakers will
identify the most common causes or burns and scalds, and discuss
prevention of injuries in the kitchen and home. Participants will
understand how to treat these burns and what parents can do when the
kids are injured in this way. Also, the speakers will identify injuries that
require assessment and treatment in the hospital setting.

In the foremost Level 1 trauma center in the Pacific Northwest, nurses
provide the most advanced emergency care. More than 80,000 patients
are seen annually and the ED is a referral center for individuals
experiencing trauma, burns, sexual assault, complex medical and surgical
problems, and a variety of mental illnesses.
