We had a great turn out for our meeting on September 14, and if you were there, you know that we covered a lot of important information and business. If you were unable to attend, here’s a quick recap of what you missed.

  • We reviewed the PTSA Mission Statement, Standing Rules, and Goals and Objectives and voted to approve them for 2009-2010.
  • We reviewed the previous year’s financial results and noted a great year for the organization.
  • We discussed current year plans with recent financial updates and we voted to approve the 2010-11 budget.
  • We had an important report on our Walkathon coming up quickly on October 15th.
  • We showcased multiple upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
  • Our Webmaster showed us key changes to our website and demonstrated the online registration process.
  • Our Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF) representative, Cathia Geller, introduced our special guest, Leigh Stokes who described the mission of the ISF, which serves to bridge the increasing gap between state funding and the dollars our schools need. Many key programs have been implemented in the district through funding from ISF and there is a two-pronged function between PTSA and ISF that is key to provid-ing our kids with important educational opportunities. The Calling for Kids Campaign is coming and every-one is encouraged to participate.

It was a busy, productive, and informative meeting, and we had an interested and engaged group. Many thanks to everyone who spent the time with us to better understand our plans for the year! If you’d like to join in the fun next time, mark your calendar now for the next GM meeting in January: Thursday, Jan. 27th at 8:30 am, right after student drop-off.
