Hello parents,

My name is Alison Cathro, I am your parent education liaison for CRE and SHS and the ISD Parent Education Council this year. I have participated in parent education since my eldest daughter began a co-op playgroup nearly 13 years ago. Over the years, I gained much support and information to consider while raising my three girls and it seemed only natural to offer myself and my passion to parents in this role as your liaison with District - wide Parent ed offerings. It takes a Village to raise a child!

The Parent Ed council met in September to discuss potential speakers and topic material for the 2010 – 2011 school year. Know that some of the offerings which I hope to bring to our community include:

• Workshops on cooking safety (with a focus on burn/scald prevention)
• Child passenger safety
• Body Image & Eating Disorders
• Understanding Teenage Stress
• “In Their Shoes” This is a training tool is for adults, counselors, and educators who want to understand teens and their dating relationships.
