The health room is getting a lot of students coming in needing a change of pants due to slipping in the mud trying to get to line up on time. Because of this the health room is out of small girl pants completely and very low on boys pants. The Golden Acorn is a PTSA award given every year to outstanding volunteers for their service to our school and community. The Golden Acorn specifically recognizes the contributions individuals have made at Cascade Ridge Elementary and within our local community. Book Fair Raises $2,700!

Cascade Ridge had another successful Book Fair in December. Thanks to our wonderful community of families, we sold approximately 600 books and made a profit of $2,700 for our school. It was so fun to see the excitement that the kids had for the fair and to see the lines of students and parents waiting to buy their books each afternoon and evening. Thanks to your support of this Book Fair, we were also able to gift the Library with a generous donation of Scholastic dollars with which to buy books that all our students can benefit from! Over $57,000 was raised by Cascade Ridge families, friends and community! The proceeds from this event ensure Cascade Ridge will continue to offer programs and curriculum that help make it one of the top elementary schools in the state. Thank you for your generosity! 2011 Holiday Program to help families in need

There will not be a separate District Holiday Program this year. If your family is in need of some extra assistance in terms of food, clothing, necessities, please contact your school nurse ASAP to obtain information on the Issaquah Food Bank Holiday Program. The first Friday of every month, during their second recess, all students will have the opportunity to purchase a yummy bag of hot buttered popcorn for only $.25. Marimba Club tryouts on Sept. 21

The goal of marimba club is to allow students to expand their percussion skills in an ensemble setting. Due to the nature of the club, and limited number of marimbas, each group will be limited to twenty-five students. This year, we will have two marimba clubs – one for fourth grade students, and another for fifth grade students. The goal of chorus is to offer Cascade Ridge students the opportunity to develop their musical skills through singing. Field Day Volunteers Still needed

We still need about 25 volunteers to make Field Day a fun and exciting event for our kids. Field day will be from 8-11 am on Wednesday, June 15th . K-3rd grade will be from 8:30-9:30 and 4th -5th grades will be from 9:40-10:40. Volunteers will work the full session from 8:00-11:00. Math Club update

We had a wonderful year with Math Club. Last Saturday, May 7th, we had 33 of the 48 kids participate in two different state wide competitions: Math Championship in Blaine and WSMC Olympiad in Seattle. Two teams of 6 kids in total challenged themselves to participate in the tougher Middle School Math Championship in Blaine. Scoring for this championship is highly competitive as they are ranked against each other. MSP testing will begin Tuesday, May 3rd. Third Grade students will take a Reading and Math assessment. Eager Reader Begins April 4th

Eager Reader is Almost Here....

The Eager Reader program will be held April 4th - 29th this year. For those new to Eager Reader, Eager Reader is a PTSA sponsored program that rewards and reinforces reading! It is a 4 week voluntary program designed to improved students' reading skills and to develop a love of reading. Summer school registration now open

Elementary Summer School is for current first through fifth graders who would like to get a jump-start on next year’s learning. The program also provides remedial assistance over the summer.
