Rajeev Goel, our current web master, will continue to be very involved with the website, and will continue to handle any complicated parts. We just need an additional person to help out with posting weekly announcements, keeping the PTSA calendar up-to-date, setting up programs, etc. Previous web experience is not necessary, and Rajeev will sit with you side-by-side until you get the hang of it. PTSA Membership Update
One of our annual PTSA goals is to continue Cascade Ridge PTSA’s record of having at least one PTSA member for every student in the school. This is called "100% Membership" and I am pleased to announce that we have reached this goal already this year. This is quite an accomplishment and it sends the message that the Cascade Ridge community recognizes the collective voice that PTSA provides on behalf of our students; we are serious about representing every student in our school to ensure that each student is given every opportunity available to be successful in their academic careers. Thank you to every PTSA member!

If you haven’t had a chance to join the PTSA and be part of a great organization that celebrates and supports every Cascade Ridge student, it’s not too late! Sign up at www.cascaderidgeptsa.org. You’ll be glad you did!

Please join our PTSA this Wednesday, October 23rd from 6-7pm for their second General Membership meeting of the year. Our school counselor, Meredith Osborne, will deliver a presentation on bullying centered on the comprehensive approach “Take a Stand Against Bullying” that is utilized by all schools in the Issaquah School District. She will provide parents with information about bullying and include definitions, the effects of bullying, warning signs to look for, and recommendations about what parents can do if they suspect their child is being bullied or is using bullying behavior.

In addition to Mrs. Osborne’s presentation, Ron Thiele, the Superintendent of the Issaquah School District, will discuss the three levies coming up for a vote in Issaquah in February and why they are so important to our school and the community. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear directly from Mr. Thiele and ask any questions you may have. IMPORTANT ... INFO NIGHT has been moved to October 2! Destination Imagination is a creative problem solving program for kids of all grade levels. Kids will work together on a team of similar-aged peers. Each team will consist of 5-7 kids, and will need a parent volunteer to act as their team coach. Teams will spend about 5 months (October – March) meeting weekly to work on a solution to one of the team challenges for this year. They will then attend the regional tournament in March where they will perform or demonstrate their solution to a panel of judges. To learn more, please come to our DI Information Night on October 2 at 7:00pm in the Coyote Cafe. Parents and students welcome!

Fifth Grade Camp Fundraiser Vote
Fifth Grade Camp Fundraiser Vote
Hello 5th grade parents ... One of the first things we need to decide on as a group is whether we would like to have all the students participate in a fundraiser to offset their camp fee which will be $235 per student. The money raised will be divided equally among the students. Several years ago students raised enough to offset their fees by $80 per child. Some of the activities students have done: Cookie sale, wrapping paper. Of course if we should decide to have a fundraiser we will need to have someone volunteer to coordinate.

We will be voting online this year as many of you could not attend the meeting on Thursday night. The voting site will be open from now until Monday morning. HERE IS THE LINK. Please let us know and VOTE.

Also, if you missed the meeting Thursday night, the full presentation is here.

Fall programs ... Scratch, Drama, and Techno Club
Fall programs ... Scratch, Drama, and Techno Club
Cascade Ridge PTSA is bringing three programs to our students this fall that will require a unique registration process:

• Scratch Coding Club (grades 3-5)
• Techno Club (grades 2-5)
• Drama (grades K-5)

Our new before/after school programs are expected to be extremely popular and as a result, we will pre-register students starting at 9:00 am on Monday, September 30, 2013 and closing Thursday, October 3 at 3:00pm. Once you have pre-registered, participant names will be drawn at random and you will be notified of your child’s status Friday, 10/4. If your child is selected to attend, you will be given directions on how to complete registration and pay for the class. This process ensures that each student has an equal opportunity for each program. For details about the fall programs, click here. Questions? Contact Kelly Huber at kellyahuber@aol.com.
